Healthy Oils To Cook With

Hi!

I'm Madison Jules
Here's what I believe: everyone deserves to have access to the knowledge they need to understand what's best for them so they can make informed choices about their life.

In a recent blog post, I discussed the different types of seed oils and the science behind what makes them toxic.

I’m going to give you the complete 411 on which oils to use and when to use them.

Most people don’t think about it, but it’s crucial to know when to use what oils and how to cook with them.

The average American is consuming up to 32% (over 700 calories) of their total calories from vegetable (seed) oils soooo, it’s kinda important.

Whether you’re at a restaurant or a grocery store, wouldn’t you want to know what’s hidden in your food?

(Pro tip: In restaurants I ask them to cook it in olive, avocado oil, beef tallow, or butter.)

Cooking with the right oils makes a world of difference, so let’s dive into some recommendations.

Oil Alternatives At A Glance

Avocado Oil:

In my opinion, this is the superhero of oils. With a smoke point of 520 degrees, avocado oil is the perfect choice for high-heat cooking, frying, roasting, and sautéing — wave goodbye to less healthy options like canola or vegetable oil!

Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO):

Look out for that “extra virgin” label and from one single origin – it’s a green flag! I don’t cook with EVOO, but it’s a wonderful addition to drizzle on many dishes.

Ghee:

Meet butter’s sophisticated cousin – this butter replacement has the added perk of being friendly to those with dairy sensitivities. My go-to is from 4th & Heart – perfect for sautéing veggies, making eggs, or spreading on toast. Not only does it taste divine, but it also aids digestion and has anti-inflammatory properties.

Virgin (Unrefined) Cold Pressed Coconut Oil:

It’s time to embrace the tropical goodness of coconut oil! With the ability to turn solid at room temperature, it’s a baking and vegetable-coating superstar.

Experiment fearlessly, savor the journey, and revel in the joy of nourishing yourself with every delicious bite. These oils will not only make your food taste amazing but also contribute to your overall well-being!
